1976 (June): Completed first sculpture and began career as full time sculptor.
1979: The first of many uses of Dan’s sculptures in Hollywood and foreign movies & TV
1980(May): One person show, Kinston Art Center, Kinston, NC.
1980-81: Designed the solar building that houses current studio.
1984(April): One person show, University of North Carolina, Carolina Union Gallery
1987(Sept): One person show, Ninth Street Gallery, Durham, NC
1987(Sept): Northern Telecom annual sculpture exhibition, Research Triangle Park, NC

2013(March): Best of Show - 3D Award, Bonita Springs National Art Festival
2014: Producers of the movie Hunger Games IV (for 2015 release) obtain Totem Pole (a 1977 sculpture by Dan Murphy) for use in the set. This is the 14th such use of Murphy’s sculptures.
2017: 3 more TV series used of Murphy sculptures, bringing the total TV/Movie uses to more than 20.
2018: The Gifted, Twentieth Century Fox TV series uses Hysteria II (one of my best sculptures)
2022: Poker Face, Russell Crow, Liam Hemsworth movie uses 2 sculptures. 26th movie/TV show to do so.
2022: Best of Show - Metal Award (Jerry Miller Award) Cary Lazy Daze Art Festival
2023: In June, Mr Murphy begins his 48th year as a full time sculptor.
